Sunday morning

Posted by Picasa

Yesterday was sunny and warm, and I spent a great deal of time outside. Part of the time I was cleaning up around the yard, deck, and patio, and part sitting and watching the wetlands. I was rewarded with sightings of the first red-winged blackbird and first two egrets of the season.

Trusting predictions, I had planned a run to the hardware store today, and some more puttering around the yard. Currently, it's 30 degrees and overcast, and while the sun breaks through occasionally, it's a little chilly to sit and watch outside, or to do any significant amount of puttering. I haven't put aside my roots as a southern hot-house flower, and must preserve my delicate sensibilities from the cold, cruel northern winter.

And just when is that large pile of plowed snow at the end of the drive going to melt, anyway?

I am always wondering when the snow is going to melt! Great finds and was great being outside !

Oh, that snow should be gone by Labor Day. :)

mon@rch - we're predicted to have a warm (for Michigan) week, so I'm hoping to spend some after-work time outside with the camera.

dave - let's hope so; it would be nice to have a clean spot when it starts snowing again the next day. :)

We have Red-winged blackbirds that love to come to our bird feeder. The male comes first and then calls out to the others. I love when they sit in the tops of our trees and trill their beautiful song.

We have cold gray weather here. It's quite dreary. The red on the bird wings are the brightest sights of the day.

Robin, everyone here is sick and tired of winter, or gray skies and trees, and of snow. We will really appreciate spring when it finally arrives. Meanwhile, we'll revel in the blackbirds, too.

Hi Wren,

It won't be long before the melt comes. We are much warmer than 30 degrees and I'm just puttering around the yard, too. Lots of work to do yet and I'm still wearing a coat most of the time.

Hang in there. Red-Winged Blackbirds are a sure sign of Spring!

mary - I know, but I'm impatient. At least (another sign of spring) it rained - rained, not snowed - last night. Mount Plowmore recedes even more.

This is the hardest time of year for me. Ok, not really hard, but the weather just plays with ya, and it drives me crazy.

sparverius - at least I can believe, now, that eventually it will be spring. that helps a lot.
